Bear Andrews loves to tie flies, but most of all, he likes to use
the flies he ties to catch fish. His favorites are Brook Trout and
Great Lakes Steelhead, but he has fished for everything from tiny
Golden Trout in the mountains of California to Tarpon on the flats
in Florida.

Greetings Friends of The Fly:
I hope that your winter is going well.. I’ve been busy tying flies and getting ready for the upcoming season. In addition I have been in the studio working on two new tying DVD’s that are now available. The first is called “Best of the Bear”/Steelhead and the second is called “Best of the Bear” Tying Tradition a trout fly DVD. It was nice getting back to my roots as a trout fly tier for a change. In addition I have been working with Capt. Todd Fuller on some new saltwater patterns for his business down in Florida.
Next I wanted to update you on a couple of trips that I am putting together for later this winter and fall along with summer of 2008. The first trip of the season will be a long weekend, to warm your casting arm up and get you out of the cold for a few days.
| March 15 we will fly to Orlando, Florida to meet up with Capt. Todd Fuller and couple other guides to fish Mosquito Lagoon for Redfish and Sea Trout. The guides will run $400.00 per day for two anglers. The flight cost will depend on where you are flying out of, and car rental and hotel we will split between the party. I would like to take 8 anglers including myself, but more could also join us. We will fish the Lagoon on the 16th, and 17th and fly home on the 18th. I have fished down on the Lagoon a couple different times in the last year and it is truly a great fishery. |

Trophy “Brookies”
Next I will be taking another group up to Kwagama Lake Lodge in Ontario the last week of September. This has turned out to be a great little spot for Trophy Brookies. The average fish run between 15 and 18 inches with many fish over the 20 inch mark. We are fishing the last week of their season so these fish are as big as they are going to get and as colored up as they will be, before the season ends. Cost of this trip is $1030 US. This price includes your flight in and out of Hawk Junction, Lodging, and food. Licenses are available at the camp, or you can purchase them ahead of time. We will arrive in Wa Wa, Ontario on the 25th if September and fly into camp on the 26th and fly out on October 1st. Lodging in Wa Wa the night before runs about $70Canadian for a double. I usually try to help arrange for folks to car pool up there as well. I have room for 24 people, and 14 are already filled. $200 deposit required to hold a spot.
Finally I will return to one of my all time favorite spots to fish in Labrador, Canada for Brookies. I mean REALLY NICE BROOKIES. These fish will average between 5 and 51/2 pounds. In addition there are Landlocked Char and Pike. I have been fishing the Minipi watershed since the early 1980’s, and I continue to go back every chance I get. This trip will take me up there for two weeks. I will have one group the last week of July and another group the first week of August. I have room for 8 the first week and 20 the second week. A $1000 Deposit per person will be required to hold your spot. Based on 2006 pricing, the trip will run you around $5000. Over the years I have set 3 IGFA World Records up there. I guess that is one reason I keep going back.
If any of these trips are of interest to you, please give me a call at 517-627-7606 home, 517-290-7789 cell or email me for any other information. In addition I will be working part time this summer at Fuller’s North Branch Outing Club, in Lovells, Michigan. Hope to see you there or at an upcoming show.
Hope to hear from you.
Have a great 2007 season.
Bear
